Gedling Mayoral Ceremony

May 9, 2012.

Gedling has a new mayor after the borough council elected Councillor Sandra Barnes to the office of Mayor on Wednesday 9 May. Councillor Bob Collis was elected Deputy Mayor of the Borough.

Vernon was at the ceremony on Wednesday to congratulate the new Mayor and her Deputy on their new roles.

The Mayor’s aim for this municipal year is to raise £18,000 for the Queens Medical Centre. The money will be used to purchase equipment to assist in the diagnosis of brain tumours in children and young people. As a former Healthcare worker, Councillor Barnes is keen to encourage more awareness of the important work carried out by the hospital.
