Contributing to Sainsbury's FareShare Appeal

On 26th November, Sainsbury's held their annual Meal Appeal in collaboration with FareShare, a UK-based charity dedicated to tackling the issues of food poverty and waste.

Vernon visited the Sainsbury's store in Arnold to do his bit and contributed items such as pasta, tea, coffee and canned food to the appeal.

FareShare provides quality food to a network of 700 community-based organisations such as homeless shelters, day centres for the elderly and breakfast clubs for vulnerable children.  Sainsbury’s helps FareShare by donating surplus food. This food is edible, safe and nutritious, but is either past its display until date or the packaging is damaged.

FareShare has received enough to provide a staggering 1.2 million meals.
