Quite understandably these proposals have led to many people, which include professional bodies, health experts, patients’ groups and most of all general practitioners, raising their voices to challenge these changes.
The planned reforms are weeks away and only now are the government agreeing to listen to the arguments against these plans which could be potentially so very damaging to the NHS.
I therefore hope that this is not just a PR exercise by the Prime Minister and that they really are listening to the legitimate concerns of doctors, nurses, professionals, health care workers, experts and patient bodies. The government must come back to parliament with a new set of proposals fit for the future challenges facing the NHS.
I will continue to do all I can to oppose any such changes. The NHS is something which we all treasure and it must not be undermined, which I believe is what the government’s proposals certainly would do.
