Friday 21 January
For: All stakeholders
Following the recent re-procurement of personal medical services at Colwick Vale surgery, a new provider has now been announced.
Netherfield Medical Centre will provide services at Colwick Vale surgery.
The procurement processes for Colwick Vale started in September. An advertisement was places on Supply2Health for interested bidders to express an interest in taking on the surgery. In the case of Colwick Vale, GP surgeries in NottinghamCity and NottinghamshireCounty were also written to, asking if they would like to consider taking on the surgery as a branch practice.
Following the completion of the procurement process on 07 January, the PCT chief executive and chairman approved both preferred bidders for Colwick Vale surgery on Friday 14 January.
Primary care services at the surgery are currently managed by Nottinghamshire Community Health (NCH).
Under Transforming Community Services, the services currently provided by NCH are being broken up and taken on by other providers. This takes effect on 1 April 2011. This meant that it was important to begin the procurement process in time for new providers to mobilise to take on the new practices by April 2011.
Staff at the surgery were informed by NCH management and human resource representatives on Monday 17 January.
All patients registered with both Colwick Vale surgery will be sent a letter next week informing them of the outcome. Meetings with the Patient Participation Group for the surgery will take place over the coming weeks.
